How to Order a Mission

The ordering process begins with a request in your DroneDeploy project.

  1. Create your DroneDeploy project.

  2. Plan your map(s), photos, videos, or panoramas all within the same DroneDeploy project.

    3. \n

  3. When all plans have been created, select Request from the left-hand panel. This action starts the ordering process.

Note: Pilots fly only the flight plans that are selected. Ensure the correct flight plans are selected in the drop-down, or all flight plans are automatically selected and flown.

This article explains the process for ordering a Data on Demand mission that includes Ground Control Points (GCPs).

Data on Demand Availability

Preparation: Surveying and Ground Control Points (GCPs)

Surveying and the GCP layout are the customer's responsibility, who orders the mission. You must ensure your site has been surveyed, and the GCP layout is complete, prior to the mission schedule date. DroneDeploy and its partners will not survey sites or interact with GCP data in any way.

You need to ensure you have a properly formatted CSV file and an associated EPSG code before beginning the following process. For more information, see our articles on GCP CSV File Formatting and Overview: Capturing & Processing GCPs with DroneDeploy.

Uploading and processing Ground Controlled maps

  1. Navigate to the project you want to add GCP data to and select Map Details from the left side panel.

  3. Select Continue to processing. (Please note this option can take up to 60 seconds to load depending on the size of the existing map.)

  5. Upload your CSV file, select your EPSG code, and agree to the statement under Tag GCPs. This is to inform you that an email will be sent to you when your GCPs are ready for tagging. Your GCPs must be tagged for your map to be processed successfully with the GCP data included.

  6. Click Add GCPs.

  7. Your map moves into pre-processing automatically after you submit.

  8. Once the pre-processing is complete, you will receive an email that will either take you to our in-browser GCP tagging tool or notify you that the GCPs have been automatically tagged.

If you have trouble locating the email, check the Upload tab to see that your map is processing. When complete, the Processing text will change to Tag your GCPs. You can click this link to tag your GCPs.
