Overview of Concrete Pre-Pour Analysis

Verifying that structural and mechanical elements are in the correct position before pouring concrete is essential to any vertical construction project’s critical path. Project teams use DroneDeploy to complete this quality control workflow to quickly validate in-slab placement issues and proactively address them in the field to prevent the need for costly rework.

The Concrete Pre-Pour Analysis report analyzes the drone ortho map against a coordinated plan and delivers a detailed analysis (within 2–4 hours) for the following conditions:

  • Elements that are missing.

  • Elements that appear to be installed outside of tolerance (greater than 6 inches).

  • Elements that are installed, but are not reflected on the drawing.

For optimal results, we recommend the following flight parameters:

  • Fly at 70 ft (20 meters) above the elevated deck.

  • Use a 20MP camera drone.

  • Use default overlap settings.

  • The area of interest must be less than 15,000 square feet.

  • Ground Control Points (GCPs) are not required, but help with accuracy.

How to use the Concrete Pre-Pour Analysis

Follow these steps to generate a Concrete Pre-Pour Analysis report:

  1. Fly and Process the Map

    • Once all elements to be analyzed are in place in the field, fly your desired analysis area using the DroneDeploy flight app.

    • Ensure the deck has over 50 feet (15 meters) of clearance overhead.

  2. Provide Drawings

    • Provide DroneDeploy with a composite sleeve drawing that corresponds to the pour area to be analyzed.

    • Your drawings should include the following information:

    • Share your project name and the approximate date of your next pre-pour deck flight. This allows us to add a trigger in our system to automatically analyze your reports.

    • The drawings must include Communication.

Deliverables

DroneDeploy provides the following deliverables for the Concrete Pre-Pour Analysis:

  • A .PDF report will be ready within 2–4 hours after uploading your map data to your project.

  • The .PDF report will be delivered via email to the pilot and/or designated preferred point of contact.

  • Observed deviations will also be annotated on your DroneDeploy map as Field Notes.
