Overview

Large uploads are necessary to capture expansive regions of interest. This article covers the parameters and best practices for managing large datasets to ensure successful map processing.

Availability: Who has access?

Image upload limits depend on your subscription tier:

  • Lite: 1,000 images per upload

  • Individual: 3,000 images per upload

  • Advanced, Teams and Enterprise: 10,000 images per upload

How to upload large datasets

  1. Open your project in DroneDeploy.

  2. Navigate to the Upload tab.

  3. Click New Upload.

  4. Upload data in smaller portions as separate maps if the dataset exceeds 10,000 images.

Key features and details

DroneDeploy supports dataset uploads of up to 10,000 images. Large datasets often require extended time to complete processing.

Note the following regarding image quality and resolution:

  • Large datasets process at a lower resolution than small or average datasets.

  • For higher resolution and faster processing, break a 10,000 image dataset into 2 5,000 image chunks or 3 3,333 image chunks.

  • Ensure high overlap and correct altitude settings, as incorrect flight parameters can result in map failures.

Limitations

  • Uploads larger than 10,000 images are not officially supported and may result in map failure or extreme processing times.

  • Engineering intervention is required in specific cases to move large datasets through the processing queue.

FAQs

Q: What should I do if my upload takes longer than expected? A: Large datasets can result in several days of processing time. If your data takes weeks to process, break the dataset into smaller portions.

Q: How can I get help with mission recommendations? A: The Support team provides flight recommendations for large areas and advises on breaking down uploads. Contact the team at support@dronedeploy.com.
