This article explains how to process imagery with the DroneDeploy Map Engine and outlines the data requirements.
Overview
The DroneDeploy Map Engine processes imagery from any Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) as long as the images include embedded geotags. This feature is available to all paid DroneDeploy customers.
The following drone models and data types are officially supported for processing:
- Phantom 4 Multispectral
- MicaSense
- Mavic Air 2
- WingtraOne
The Map Engine can also process RTK imagery from DJI drones, even if the images were not captured using the DroneDeploy flight application. This feature is available to customers with an individual plan or above.
Data requirements
To process your imagery successfully, ensure your data meets the following criteria:
- All images must be in JPG format.
- Each image must have latitude, longitude, and altitude data in its GPS EXIF information.
- Images should face the area of interest and have significant overlap (more than 60% side and frontlap). For agricultural or homogeneous imagery, we recommend 75% overlap.
- A minimum of 10 images are required.
To begin, upload your data from the dashboard. For more information, refer to the Uploading Datasets help article.
