Overview
Distortions or warped seam lines occur when the In-Camera Stitching setting is active. This feature conflicts with DroneDeploy processing workflows. To maintain high-quality outputs, users must disable internal camera stitching. This article guides resolving seam line distortion in 360 panos captured with the Insta360 X4 camera. Examples below:
How to resolve pano warping
Follow these steps on your Insta360 X4 camera to disable internal stitching:
Swipe down from the top of the camera screen.
Swipe left.
Tap Settings.
Scroll to Image Settings.
Toggle In-Camera Stitching to the off position.
Re-uploading corrected images
The DroneDeploy app cannot fix panos captured with internal stitching enabled. The original raw files on the SD card are unaltered and available for manual correction.
Access the original raw files in INSV format from the camera SD card.
Manually upload these files to the DroneDeploy project via the web app.
The system processes these raw files to generate correctly stitched panos.
Key Features
Raw Processing: DroneDeploy uses original sensor data to provide seamless 360 views.
Stitching Accuracy: Disabling hardware-side stitching ensures alignment with DroneDeploy algorithms.
Limitations
Manual Correction: Distorted panos already processed in a project require a manual re-upload of raw files.
File Format: Only raw INSV files are compatible with this correction method.
FAQs
Q: Why does the seam line appear distorted?
A: The camera’s internal stitching creates a conflict with DroneDeploy’s processing, leading to visual errors along the image seams.
Q: Can I fix the warped image in the app directly?
A: No, the app cannot re-stitch images once they are uploaded with in-camera stitching enabled. You must use the raw files from the SD card.
Q: Does this affect other camera models?
A: This specific conflict is identified on the Insta360 X4. Ensure other hardware settings do not interfere with external processing.
