Overview
This guide explains how to export raw data from the Mobile 3D Scan feature in the DroneDeploy Ground App and manually upload it for processing.
Important: Exporting raw scan data is only possible before you sync your scan to the cloud. Once the scan is synced, the export option is no longer available.
Availability
Device: iOS device with LiDAR (iPhone Pro/Pro Max or iPad Pro 2020 or newer).
App: Latest version of the DroneDeploy Ground App.
Account: Available to all paid DroneDeploy Aerial subscriptions.
How to export Mobile 3D Scan
Follow these steps to capture, export, and upload your data manually.
1. Perform your scan
Open the DroneDeploy Ground App.
Start a new scan. Ensure you select Exterior mode, as scanning is not yet supported on Levels.
Tap the red Record button to start.
Follow best practices for coverage (maintain consistent angles, avoid abrupt movements).
Tap Stop when finished.

2. Export the raw data (Before syncing)
Locate the grey pin on the map representing your unsynced scan.
Tap the Unsynced pin.
Select Export.
The export will be saved as a ZIP file. Unzip this folder on your computer.
Locate the folder titled
frameswithin the unzipped directory. This contains the photos needed for upload.
3. Upload to DroneDeploy
Log in to DroneDeploy on desktop
Navigate to your project.
Click the Upload tab.
Select New Upload.
Drag and drop the photos from the
framesfolder into the upload window.Change the plan type to Facade.
Click Upload Images to begin processing.
You will receive an email once the scan has completed processing.
Limitations
Syncing: Export is not available after syncing. Ensure you export before the device syncs with the cloud.
Viewing: Viewing and interacting with your scan is currently only possible via the web app.
Stability: Occasionally, the app may crash after scanning. Your scan will still be saved locally on the device.

Q: Can I export the data after I have synced the project?
A: No. The export option is only available for unsynced scans residing locally on your device.

A: The export is a ZIP folder containing raw data, including a frames folder with the images required for processing.
