Overview
If a media pin was placed in the wrong location during capture, you can reposition it directly in the Ground app without deleting and re-creating it. This works on both exterior maps and interior floor plan levels and applies to both individual pins and pins inside a group.

Move a single media marker
Use this flow when a pin is already individually selected on the map.
- Open the project and navigate to the map or level where the pin is located.
- Tap the pin to select it. A bottom sheet appears confirming the marker is selected.
- Long-press the selected pin. The pin enters move mode - it becomes visually distinct (enlarged/highlighted in orange), and a "Drag to move" label appears on screen. Save location and Cancel buttons appear at the bottom.
- Drag the map to reposition it. The selected pin stays fixed in the center of the screen while the map moves around it.
- When the pin is over the correct location, tap Save location to confirm. Tap Cancel to return the pin to its original position.
Move a marker out of a group
When multiple pins are clustered into a group, you can move the individual media item currently shown in the bottom sheet.
- Tap the group marker on the map. The bottom sheet opens, showing the media item for that group.
- Long-press the group marker. Move mode activates for the media item currently displayed in the bottom sheet - not the entire group.
- Drag the map to reposition the pin, then tap Save location to confirm.
How moving a marker affects media groups
When you confirm a move, DroneDeploy recalculates all media groups in real time using the updated pin positions. As a result:
- The moved pin may join a different group at the new location.
- Nearby pins may regroup, so group counts can change after a move.
- No other media items are physically moved - only the grouping structure updates.
Troubleshooting
I can't long-press to enter move mode
Make sure you have Editor or higher permissions on the project. Viewer-level users cannot move pins. Also confirm you have tapped to select the pin first - long-pressing an unselected pin will not trigger move mode.
The pin snapped back to its original location
You tapped Cancel, or the move was not confirmed. Try again and tap Save location once the pin is over the correct spot.
I want to move a specific pin inside a group, but I keep moving the wrong one
Tap the group to open the bottom sheet, swipe through the media in the sheet until the correct item is displayed, then long-press the group marker to move that specific item.
