In DroneDeploy, properly aligning levels is critical to maintaining the accuracy and consistency of your Building Information Modeling (BIM) project.   1. Adding the First Exterior Layer

    • You can open your project in DroneDeploy and navigate to the add overlay section.
    • Then, add your first exterior layer (this will be the base level of your model).
    • Use the available tools to draw or import the exterior layer's geometry, ensuring it is positioned correctly within the project boundaries. Make sure your alignment to the original area is set and accurate.
  2. Adding Subsequent Levels

    • Once the first exterior layer is in place, could you add the subsequent levels of your model?
    • You must import the layer's geometry for each new level, just like the first exterior layer.
    • Even if it's on a different level on the interior project, please align it to the original base map on the exterior.
  3. Aligning the Levels

    • After adding each new level, use the alignment tool to ensure it is positioned correctly relative to the previous layer.
    • Align each level to the base exterior layer to maintain consistency. This alignment is critical because it ensures all levels align correctly in the final BIM model.
  4. Snapping Layers Together

    • After aligning each level, snap the geometry to the next layer. This process ensures that each subsequent level is perfectly aligned to the one below it.
    • Use the snapping tool to connect the points between the layers and ensure the geometry seamlessly transitions from one level to the next.
  5. Final Check

    • Once all levels are added and snapped together, could you double-check that all layers are aligned in a straight line and that there are no discrepancies in the positioning?
    • This final check will ensure that your BIM alignment will work properly across the entire project.

  • Only align the BIM model once to the entire project. This means the overlays must be aligned similarly to ensure the BIM model functions correctly across different levels.
