DJI Dock Troubleshooting

  • What should I do if my dock doesn’t connect during setup or appears as a grey dot on the DroneDeploy flight tab?
    1. Verify we’ve received the correct serial numbers for both the dock and the drone. The dock serial number to use is the Control Module SN not the Dock Plate SN, which can be found in the DJI Dock interface. Ensure there are no spaces and that the serial numbers are case-sensitive
    2. Verify the MQTT credentials. Ensure the MQTT gateway address is ssl://dji-dock-us.dronedeploy.com:8883. Verify the MQTT account, MQTT password, and Org ID (dronedeploy, in lowercase) are entered exactly as provided. Incorrect capitalization of the Org ID is a common mistake
    3. Check Power requirements
    4. Check Internet requirements (minimum 10Mbps, recommended 25+Mbps)
    5. Hard reboot the dock onsite

  • How to update the dock and drone firmware?
Contact your DroneDeploy representative to update your dock and drone firmware. We will ensure that the dock has the latest functional firmware, which may not be the latest firmware. This will automatically be done for you as we validate new firmware releases. The latest firmware release is not always the most reliable.

  • My dock doesn't seem to have internet access; what should I check?
Confirm that the dock has a stable internet connection via Ethernet cable. If there are connectivity issues, review the network configuration using the RC plugged into the dock. Ensure the dock can reach the MQTT address ssl://dji-dock-us.dronedeploy.com:8883 and port 8883 or any known ip address it should be able to connect to on the network. For customers using Dock Shield, make sure the necessary network firewall rules are configured.

  • Could a connected remote controller cause issues?
If you have a remote controller (Controller B) connected, it might interfere with media upload to the cloud or cause "wayline failed to distribute" errors. Try disconnecting Controller B to see if this resolves the problem. Make sure the RC is in close line of sight with the dock (within about 10 ft).

  • I see the video stream, but the drone's position isn't updating. What's wrong?
If the video feed from the dock is visible but there's no telemetry data, first, check that the aircraft serial number is configured correctly. If the problem persists, contact DroneDeploy Support.

  • The drone is not taking off from the dock. What could be the reason?
Check DroneDeploy for any flight error notifications. These should give an error code and description of the error. If you are using a Dock 1, and it's waiting for an extended period before closing the covers, it might not be getting an RTK fix. Also, confirm that the preflight checklist is completed. You need to hold down the start flight button for 3 seconds to take off for safety reasons.

  • The location data in my drone captures is incorrect. What can I do?
Wrong location data often indicates that the dock position was not configured correctly during setup, or if the dock has been moved without recalibrating. Re-calibrate the dock.

  • The video streams from the dock or drone aren't working. How can I get them back?
The payload camera will only show when the aircraft is on. The aircraft is typically off when in the dock. Check your bandwidth and internet connection on site (Minimum 10Mbps and recommended 25Mbps). Remember you want upload speed, not download,d which is often throttled if you have Starlink or Cellular backhaul.

  • My remote controller isn't connecting to the dock. What should I do?
    1. First, check the USB cable connecting the RC to the dock.
    2. Ensure the red power light on the dock is on and verify that the RC is charging when plugged into the dock
    3. You can also try updating the RC firmware.
    4. As a more advanced step, use DJI Assistant on a laptop connected to the dock's USB-C port to install the latest dock firmware.

  • What if my media isn't uploading after the drone lands?
Check the uploads tab in your DroneDeploy project and see if you can see this uploading. The DJI Dock does last-in, first-out uploads, which means your most recently collected data will be uploaded first before your previous flights. This is normal.

To prevent data loss, avoid switching back to DJI FlightHub 2 before all media has been transferred to DroneDeploy.
