Dock Connection Status - Troubleshooting Guide

Overview

This guide helps you identify and interpret the real-time connectivity states of your DJI Dock, network telemetry, and aircraft RF links. Review the tables below to quickly diagnose status indicators, understand if your system is clear to fly, and discover steps to resolve common connection alerts.

Find the row in the connection status indicator that shows an unexpected value, then follow the steps below for that row and status.

πŸ”— Dock Connection

Overall reachability of the dock and its services

Online

Can you fly? βœ… Yes β€” ready to fly

  • The dock connection is fully established. No action needed.

Unknown

Can you fly? ⏳ Wait

  • The page just loaded and waits for the first status update. This typically resolves within a few seconds.

    1. Wait 5-10 seconds for the status to populate.

    2. If still Unknown after 30 seconds, refresh the page.

Partial

Can you fly? ⏳ Wait

  • One part of the connection is up while the other is still initializing. Usually a brief mid-startup state.

    1. Wait β€” it should automatically settle into Healthy or surface a more specific error.

    2. If it stays Partial for more than a few minutes, refresh the page.

No service

Can you fly? ❌ Do not fly

  • DroneDeploy cannot reach the dock's connection service, even though network telemetry is still flowing. Usually a transient issue.

    1. Wait 30-60 seconds to see if it self-recovers.

    2. If it persists after a few minutes, try restarting the dock agent from the Automate tab.

    3. If still unresolved, contact DroneDeploy Support.

No telemetry

Can you fly? ❌ Do not fly

  • The connection service is reachable, but the dock has stopped sending telemetry data. The dock is alive but the data pipeline does not flow β€” often a credentials or configuration issue.

    1. In the Automate tab, verify the agent settings and device credentials are correct and have not expired.

    2. If settings look correct, this may be a platform-side issue β€” contact DroneDeploy Support.

Serial mismatch

Can you fly? 🚫 Blocked β€” you cannot fly until this is resolved

  • The dock serial number in your DroneDeploy configuration does not match the dock the system detects. You cannot trust data from the dock until corrected.

    1. Note the serial number printed on the physical dock hardware.

    2. Contact DroneDeploy Support and provide the serial number β€” they will update your configuration.

Offline

Can you fly? ❌ Do not fly

  • The dock is completely unreachable β€” both the connection service and all telemetry are offline. The dock may be powered off, physically disconnected or have lost all network access. The indicator will pulse red.

    1. Check the dock physically β€” confirm it is powered on and network cables are connected.

    2. Check that the dock's network connection (cellular/ethernet) has signal.

    3. If you recently set up the dock, retrace the initial onboarding steps in the Automate tab to verify nothing was missed.

    4. Contact DroneDeploy Support if the dock remains unreachable after the above checks.

Internet offline

Can you fly? ⏳ Check your connection

  • Your browser has detected that your device has no internet connection. The dock hardware itself may be fine β€” we just cannot reach it from your device.

    1. Check your own network connection (Wi-Fi, ethernet or VPN).

    2. Once restored, the indicator will update automatically.

πŸ“‘ Dock Network

The dock's own internet connection (cellular, ethernet or Wi-Fi)

Online

Can you fly? βœ… No issue with this row

  • The dock's network connection is healthy. If something else looks wrong, check the other two rows.

Unknown

Can you fly? ⏳ Wait

  • Initial status is still loading. Wait a few seconds β€” all three rows will populate together.

Offline

Can you fly? ❌ Do not fly

  • The dock is still reachable by DroneDeploy, but the dock itself reports that its uplink (cellular, ethernet or Wi-Fi) is down. This needs a resolution on-site.

    1. Check the dock's physical network connection on-site β€” inspect the ethernet cable, SIM card or router.

    2. Verify the dock's network configuration in the Automate tab has not changed.

    3. Contact Support if you cannot resolve the on-site network issue.

Not reporting

Can you fly? ❌ Do not fly

  • The dock connection remains intact, but network status data has gone silent β€” a partial telemetry outage that does not take the whole dock offline. This is not user-actionable and requires a Support team investigation.

    1. Do not attempt to fly β€” network status is unknown.

    2. Contact DroneDeploy Support for backend diagnosis.

Internet offline

Can you fly? ⏳ Check your connection

  • Your browser has detected no internet. We cannot confirm the dock's network status from your device.

    1. Restore your own internet connection.

    2. The indicator will update automatically once you are back online.

✈️ Aircraft Network

The RF link between the dock and the drone

Online

Can you fly? βœ… No issue with this row

  • The dock's RF link to the aircraft is healthy. If something else looks wrong, check the other two rows.

Unknown

Can you fly? ⏳ Wait

  • Initial status is still loading. Wait a few seconds β€” all three rows will populate together.

Aircraft off

Can you fly? βœ… Normal state

  • The aircraft is powered off inside the dock. This is the expected state before a mission β€” the dock is healthy and ready.

    1. Power on the aircraft when you are ready to fly. The row will automatically update to Online.

Offline

Can you fly? ❌ Do not fly

  • The dock's RF link to the aircraft is down. The aircraft is powered on, but the dock cannot talk to it.

    1. Confirm the aircraft is properly seated in the dock.

    2. Check for physical obstructions or radio interference near the dock.

    3. Power cycle the aircraft.

    4. If it persists, verify the aircraft serial number is correctly configured in the Automate tab.

    5. Contact Support if none of the above resolves the issue.

Serial mismatch

Can you fly? 🚫 Blocked β€” you cannot fly until this is resolved

  • The aircraft in the dock has a different serial number than the one configured in DroneDeploy. This could mean the wrong drone is present or the configuration needs an update.

    1. Check that the correct aircraft is seated in the dock by reading the serial number on the hardware and matching it to the serial number in the Automate tab.

    2. If the aircraft is correct, contact DroneDeploy Support to update the configured serial number.

Not reporting

Can you fly? ❌ Do not fly

  • Aircraft network status data has stopped arriving. This usually appears alongside Dock network: Not reporting and indicates a partial telemetry outage. This is not user-actionable.

    1. Do not attempt to fly.

    2. Contact DroneDeploy Support for backend diagnosis.

Internet offline

Can you fly? ⏳ Check your connection

  • Your browser has detected no internet. We cannot confirm aircraft network status from your device.

    1. Restore your own internet connection.

    2. The indicator will update automatically once you are back online.
