How to upload C5 photos
Follow these steps to add your thermal imagery to a project:
- Connect your FLIR C5 camera to your computer using the provided USB-C cable.
- Log in to your account at dronedeploy.com and open your project.
- Click Add Media to start adding images to the project.
- Click New Upload.
- Click Choose Files and select the thermal images from your computer.
- The platform will notify you that it cannot geolocate the images from the C5 camera. Click Proceed Anyway to continue.
- (Optional) Click the photo group name and rename it to be more relevant to your project.
- Select the geo-marker icon to manually set the location of the photos. If you skip this step, the images will be placed in the center of the project.

- Click Start Upload. After the upload, your thermal images are successfully added to the project. Once the upload is complete, your thermal images are available within your project for viewing and analysis.
FAQs
Q: Why does DroneDeploy say my images have no location? A: The FLIR C5 sensor does not include a GPS module. You must manually place the images on your map using the geo-marker tool during the upload process.
Q: Can I process these images into a 3D model? A: No. C5 images are intended for use as individual thermal photos or inspections within a project gallery. They do not contain the necessary overlap or metadata for photogrammetry.
Q: What if I have a large number of C5 photos? A: We recommend grouping your uploads by specific assets or areas of interest to make manual geolocation and organization easier.
