Breakpoint Resume

The Breakpoint Resume feature allows a DroneDeploy Dock mission to continue from the last recorded breakpoint after an interruption. This enables the mid-segment resume of a flight plan, ensuring efficient operations and reducing unnecessary repetition over areas already captured.

Availability: Who has access?

  • Breakpoint Resume is available for all DroneDeploy Dock users.

  • The feature is specifically intended for automated missions.

How it works

When an automated mission experiences a resumable interruption, such as a low-battery Return to Home (RTH), a user-initiated RTH, or specific waypoint errors, the system records the exact location.

On resume, the drone transits using the defined travel altitude relative to the dock altitude. If the interruption occurs above the travel altitude, the drone may maintain that higher altitude based on hardware behavior.

Breakpoint Resume uses a fixed transit altitude during the mid-mission return to the breakpoint. The drone does not perform terrain following during this transit phase.

Key Details

  • Optimized Efficiency: The drone resumes near the point of interruption rather than returning to the start of the last waypoint.

  • Automated Integration: This feature triggers automatically for supported DJI Dock interruptions.

  • Transit Behavior: Expect a fixed transit altitude on hilly terrain when returning to the mission breakpoint.

Limitations

  • Manual Plans: Breakpoint Resume is not available for Manual Flight plans.

  • Terrain Following: Mid-mission transit back to the breakpoint does not support active terrain following.

FAQs

Q: Why did the drone resume in a different spot than the waypoint marker?
A: The system resumes from the recorded hardware breakpoint, which may occur mid-segment and might not align perfectly with waypoint-based visual markers in the UI.

Q: Does this feature work for all flight interruptions?
A: It works for DJI-reported resumable interruptions like low-battery RTH or certain waypoint errors. It is not used for manual-only flight plans.

Q: How can I verify if Breakpoint Resume is active?
A: To confirm coverage, check your flight logs and media to see the path of the previous flight attempt. You can also contact the Support team to verify the feature flag status for your account.
