DJI Fly and GO 4 Applications

This article gives an overview of the DJI Fly and GO 4 native applications. Outside of the DroneDeploy application, settings or calibrations may need to be initiated in these native apps. This general overview will assist in locating the proper App for firmware updates, compass calibrations, and more.

 

DJI Fly

The DJI Fly App is compatible with DJI Mini 3, DJI Mini 3 Pro, DJI Mini 4 Pro, DJI Mavic 3 Classic, DJI Mavic 3 Pro, DJI Mavic 3, DJI Mini SE, DJI Air 2S, DJI Air 3, DJI Mini 2, DJI Mini 2 SE, Mavic Air 2, Mavic Mini, DJI Avata and FPV.

(If you operate any of the above-listed drones, this application will be your go-to for firmware updates and calibrations related to your hardware.)

 

Introduction to the DJI Fly App Page

You can access your profile information and images from the landing page and connect your drone to the application. If your drone is already paired to the mobile device and application, the bottom right corner will say, "Go Fly " instead of "Connection Guide," your drone should automatically connect once it is turned on.

Once you enter the "Camera View" screen after connecting your drone, you will be presented with a screen similar to the image above. From this screen, you can access settings by clicking on the three dots in the top right corner of the screen.

Once you enter settings, the first tab you will come to is "Safety." In this tab, you can update maximum altitude and distance, home point information, gather battery information, and, most importantly, calibrate the compass and IMU of your drone.

In the "About" tab of DJI Fly, you can check for firmware updates and determine which version of Aircraft and RC firmware you're currently operating. This tab also provides additional aircraft information and updates.

DJI GO 4

The DJI GO 4 app is compatible with the Mavic Pro, Mavic 2, Mavic 2 Pro, Mavic Air, Spark, Phantom 4 Advanced, Phantom 4 Pro, Phantom 4 V2.0, Inspire 2, and Matrice 200-210 RTK.

(If you operate any of the above-listed drones, this application will be your go-to for firmware updates and calibrations related to your hardware.)

Like the Fly App, the DJI GO 4 App landing page operates similarly and is your gateway to connecting your DJI drone and reviewing any previously captured data. You will see this indicated in the bottom left corner when your drone is connected. You can also enter your device "Camera View" from the "Enter Device" tab on the right.

In the "About" tab of DJI GO 4, you can check for firmware updates and determine which version of Aircraft and RC firmware you're currently operating. IMU & Compass Calibration

Click on the top drone icon depicted in blue below> scroll down on the right until you see the tab for SENSORS> Click on the IMU or Compass tabs, depending on which one you choose to calibrate at that time.

Operate any of the Phantom 4 Series, calibrating the compass and, on some occasions. The IMU will be crucial to your operation, and you should practice calibrating the compass before each flight, regardless of the platform.

Before flying in the DroneDeploy App, please take a little time and ensure the firmware is up-to-date on your drone and everything is running optimally in the DJI native app. Most of the time, when we run into complications, it is typically due to outdated firmware or calibration needed on the DJI side before utilizing DroneDeploy.
