Comparing maps and map measurements to one another side-by-side helps you visually track changes, detect issues and monitor stockpile quantities and slope stability on a job site. The side-by-side tool in DroneDeploy provides a streamlined way to analyze these changes over time.
Availability: Who has access?
Individual, Enterprise and Teams tiers.
Lite users can access compare mode when shared on an Enterprise project, but not on projects they own.
What is Side-by-Side Comparison?
The Side-by-Side Comparison tool allows you to view two different map dates simultaneously using a slider. This interface enables the direct comparison of elevation data, plant health and other map layers.
How to use side-by-side comparison
Follow these steps to compare two maps:
Open your project in DroneDeploy.
Enter comparison mode.
Click Compare on the date selector bar.
Select your dates.
The date on the left represents the primary map (the map you were originally viewing).
The date on the right represents the comparison map.
Change either selection by clicking the forward or back arrows in the top date selector bar.
Adjust the slider.
Move the center slider across the screen to reveal differences between the two dates.
Key Features
Layer Synchronization: Any map layers you select in the sidebar appear on both maps if the data is available for both dates.
Real-time Analysis: Create new measurements while in side-by-side mode; these measurements save to the primary map.
Limitations
Map Intersection: Maps must intersect to be used in comparison mode.
Layer Availability: If a specific layer (such as a digital terrain model) is missing from one date, it will not appear on that side of the comparison.
Exporting: Comparison views are currently restricted to the in-app interface and do not support direct export or link sharing.
FAQs
Q: Does Side-by-Side Comparison work with all layers?
A: Yes, as long as the necessary data is present in both maps being compared.
Q: Where are my new measurements saved?
A: Any new measurements created during a comparison session save only to the primary map.
