Drone Shield fortifies your drone operations by strictly regulating communications between hardware, software, and cloud services. It's a set of network security tools and software features that ensures a secure connection between your Mavic 3 Enterprise, RC Pro Enterprise, and DroneDeploy servers. Drone Shield is separate from DroneDeploy's Cloud Security, included in your Aerial subscription.
The result: Drone Shield permits connections only to trusted, DroneDeploy-controlled US servers on specific IP ranges, preventing drone data from going anywhere but its intended destination.
Please contact your Customer Success Manager or complete this form if you are interested in learning more about Drone Shield and how to get access.
How to Install Drone Shield
Please ensure you have already received access to Drone Shield from DroneDeploy and have received an email with your config file attached.
- Download the WireGuard app directly from https://download.wireguard.com/android-client/ onto your RC Pro Enterprise using Firefox.
- Download the config file (.conf) sent to you via email onto your RC (the easiest way to do this is by plugging in your RC to your computer via a USB-C cable and transferring the file)
a. In your RC's 'Settings,' go to 'Connected devices'> 'USB,' and ensure 'This device' and 'File transfer' are selected.
b. In your computer's file system, you'll see 'DJI RC Pro Enterprise' (on PCs). If you're using a Macbook, use the Android File Transfer app.
c. Drag and drop the config file from your computer into the 'Download' folder on the RC (see below)
- Once the file is in the 'Download' folder, open the Wireguard app on the RC and import the config file by tapping the '+' icon (see below)
4. After import, enable the config file.
5. To ensure WireGuard is enabled every time you power on the RC, please go to your RC's 'Settings'> 'Network & internet'> 'Advanced'> 'VPN'> gear icon next to 'WireGuard'> enable 'Always-on VPN' and 'Block connections without VPN'
Troubleshooting Guide
- Please check to make sure the WireGuard app is installed on your RC. If you need help, please follow the installation instructions above.
- Open the WireGuard app and turn off the key (e.g., `client_0001` ). Then, try opening 'dronedeploy.com' in Firefox on the RC. If that doesn't work, please ensure your RC is connected to the internet.
- Enable the key and open 'dronedeploy.com' in your web browser. If that works, check the connection status in the DroneDeploy Flight app.
- If you're still not getting a connection in the DroneDeploy Flight app, delete your existing key by pressing and tapping the garbage icon for a long time. Re-import the WireGuard key from the source (steps 2 - 4 above).
- If you're still unable to connect, please don't hesitate to contact us at support@dronedeploy.com.
