The new Upload Management screen in the DroneDeploy Ground App provides a modernised, comprehensive interface for viewing, managing, and monitoring all your media uploads. This feature enhances transparency and control, allowing you to easily audit upload history, check real-time status for every file, and perform selective actions like rename or delete before syncing.
Availability: Who has access?
The Upload Management screen is available to all users of the DroneDeploy Ground App version 2.228.0 and above.
To access the new screen:
- In the Ground App, tap the Sync banner.
- The application will present the new Upload Management screen.
Key features and details
The updated Upload Management screen replaces the legacy sync interface and introduces several key improvements:
- Real-Time Status: View the live status for every file directly on the screen.
- Upload History: The screen includes a Completed Tab that displays a history of all successful uploads for the last 7 days.
- Processing Status: For Walks and 3D Scans, the actual processing status is visible in the completed upload list.
- Selective File Actions: Users can perform actions on individual files:
- Rename: Swipe left on a media card in the Pending Tab to rename the capture before it is uploaded.
- Delete: Swipe left on a media card to delete the media item.
- Enhanced Media Display: Each media item now displays a thumbnail and a media type icon (Walk, Scan, Pin) for easier identification.
- Direct Media Access: Tapping a media card takes you directly to the Pin Details page for quick access and verification post-upload.
- Error Handling: Clear, actionable error messages and steps are provided in the event of upload failures, allowing you to retry or delete a failed item immediately.
How to use upload management
Use the new Upload Management screen to monitor and control your media files before and after upload. Understanding the interface
The Upload Management window is split into two tabs:
- Pending Tab: Shows captures that have not yet been synchronised.
- Completed Tab: Shows an upload history of all completed uploads for your user account within the last 7 days.
Performing file actions
To rename a file before upload:
- Navigate to the Pending Tab.
- Swipe left on the media card for the Scan, Walk, or Pano you wish to rename.
- Select the rename option and enter the new file name.
To delete a file:
- Locate the media card for the file you want to remove.
- Swipe the media card to the left.
- Select the delete option.
To begin or cancel an upload:
- The Upload button is located at the bottom of the screen. Tapping this button initiates the upload, and the button is replaced by a loading bar showing total upload progress.
- To stop an in-progress upload, tap the Cancel Upload control.
Limitations and considerations
- Upload History: The Completed Tab displays files uploaded by the individual user on that device within the last 7 days.
- Standard photo renaming: This is not yet possible, but will be coming to the app soon!
- Thumbnails: The ability to pull thumbnails for the completed list may be restricted in some early versions.
- Error Reporting: If a single media item encounters multiple errors, only the last received error message is saved and displayed to you.
