Overview
The Flight Plan Geometry Locking feature allows any user to lock the geometry (the shape and position) of a flight plan on the map. This feature ensures you do not accidentally change flight plans by an errant tap or click, which helps preserve the integrity of boundaries for repeat flights. The lock status is persistent. It remains active between sessions, when switching between the Fly and Explore views, and for any user who accesses that specific plan. This feature is available on all platforms.
Availability
This feature is included in all DroneDeploy Aerial subscriptions, including free accounts. Any user with access to a flight plan can use the lock/unlock functionality.
How It Works
To lock a flight plan:
- Open your project in DroneDeploy.
- Navigate to the map or 3D model with the flight plan you want to secure.
- Click the Lock Geometry icon (a padlock symbol) in the flight plan’s settings.
To unlock a flight plan:
- Click the Lock Geometry icon again.
Limitations
- Permissions: The ability to lock or unlock a plan is not tied to administrative permissions. Any user with access to the plan can toggle the lock.
- Scope of Lock: Locking only applies to the plan's geometry and the POI position on the map. It does not lock other flight settings, such as altitude.
- Unsupported Plans: Plan geometry locking is not available for Asset Inspection or Recorded Flight KMZ plans.
