How to Connect a 360 Camera in the DroneDeploy Ground App

You can connect your 360 Camera in the DroneDeploy Ground App directly from the Camera connection screen. The app automatically detects and organizes available cameras for you.

A 360 Camera is only required for Pano and Walk captures.

How camera detection works

The camera connection screen displays a single, unified list of cameras, organized based on availability and connection history:

  • Nearby cameras always appear at the top of the list.

  • If a camera has never been connected before, it will appear in the Nearby section when first detected.

  • Previously connected cameras are shown when detected and will display a Nearby badge when within range.

  • If there are no previously connected cameras, the full list of supported cameras is displayed.

This ensures the most relevant and available camera is always prioritized.

Connect to a camera

  1. Open the Ground App and navigate to the Capture tab.
  2. Select Pano or Walk.
  3. Select your camera from the list. Nearby cameras will appear at the top.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompt to connect to the camera’s Wi-Fi network and tap Join.

Once your camera is connected, you can begin your capture. For instructions on updating your camera firmware, see Update your Ground Camera Firmware.

What you will see on this screen

  • Nearby cameras: Cameras currently detected and ready to connect.
  • Previously Connected: Cameras you have used before.
  • Compatible Cameras: Supported camera models available for manual selection.
