Pilot Limit Notifications vs. Account Locks

Have more questions? Submit a request

At DroneDeploy, we want to ensure your team has the right amount of access without unnecessary interruptions. It is important to distinguish between informational notifications regarding your pilot seats and actual account locks, which occur only under specific circumstances.

Pilot limit notifications

When your team reaches the maximum number of pilot seats included in your plan, DroneDeploy displays a banner in the webapp. These notifications are categorized into two types based on your current seat count:

  • At-limit banner (dismissible): This banner appears when your account has reached its exact limit (for example, 5 out of 5 pilots). This is an informational message only and does not restrict any existing functionality or access to your data.

  • Exceeded-limit banner (non-dismissible): This banner appears only when an administrator attempts to add more pilots than the current plan allows. This remains visible to notify you that additional seats are required before new users can be invited.

Understanding account locks

A true account lock is a rare event and is not triggered automatically by reaching your pilot limit.

  • Manual triggers: Account locks are typically triggered manually by the DroneDeploy team for exceptional events, such as failed billing or compliance issues.

  • Functionality: Unlike a pilot limit banner, an account lock restricts access to the platform until the underlying issue is resolved with the Support team or your Customer Success Manager.

Troubleshooting notification issues

If you or your team encounter a banner regarding pilot limits, please review the following steps:

  • Misinterpretation of the banner: If a user believes the account is locked due to a "pilot limit reached" notification, remind them that the at-limit banner is informational and can be dismissed to continue regular work.

  • Persistent banners: If an at-limit banner persists after being dismissed, try refreshing your browser or clearing your cache.

  • Inability to add pilots: If you are unable to add new pilots because you have reached your plan limit, contact your Customer Success Manager to discuss expanding your seat count.

Availability

  • Pilot management and seat notifications are available for Advanced and Enterprise aerial subscriptions.
